GUN OF THE MONTH: MARK 46
MARK 46
If you are looking for a fun-to-shoot, fully automatic machine gun in Las Vegas, come down to The Range 702 to try out the Mark 46 today. The Mark 46 is a light weight special operations variant of the M249 squad automatic weapon, or SAW. The M249 was originally developed by the Army as an effective answer to a lack of automatic weapons in small units. The Mark 46, along with the M249 and Mark 48, is still used by U.S. Navy SEALS and U.S. Army’s Delta Force today.
The highly reliable Mark 46 machine gun is compact and maneuverable. The Mark 46 shoots .556 belt-fed rounds, and is complete with improved receiver pins and vented handguard and retention pawls in the feed tray. The Mark 46 offers increased firepower without sacrificing tactical load bearing restraints. Although the Mark 46 is lighter than the M249 this machine gun is still heavier than others and requires a bi-pod when firing. The Mark 46’s maximum effective range is close to 1,000 meters and can to fire anywhere from 650 to 850 rounds per minute when holding the trigger.
