Note: This course is the required live-fire qualification portion for those seeking a California Non-Resident Concealed Carry Weapons License (CCW).
California now allows non-residents to obtain CCW permits and recognizes online training to meet the classroom requirement.
Before attending this range qualification, applicants must first complete the 16-hour online California CCW course through our partner U.S. LawShield. Complete the Online Course Here.
Once you’ve finished the online portion, you’ll qualify with an instructor at The Range 702 to meet the live-fire requirement.
Booking & Pricing:
- Available Days: Thursday & Friday
- Price: $25 per firearm. Must be a California Compliant Firearm.
- Booking: Required via FareHarbor (same process as Armed Guard Requals)
- Duration: Varies by number of firearms; plan for up to 1 hour
*Please arrive early or on-time. Doors close strictly at 9:10 am.
Rescheduling Policy:
- Reschedule more than 48 hours before your scheduled booking: Free per person.
- Arrive late or reschedule less than 48 hours before your scheduled booking: A $20 re-booking fee will be charged per person.
What You’ll Need to Bring:
- Proof of completion for the U.S. LawShield 16-hour online course (digital certificate OK)
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- Your firearm(s)
- 30 rounds of ammunition per firearm
- Eye and ear protection (available for rent or purchase if needed)
- Credit/debit card used for reservation

About the California Non-Resident CCW
As of April 22, 2025, California began issuing concealed carry permits to non-residents, following a ruling requiring the state to extend eligibility beyond California residents.
Came to The Range 702 to complete my initial CCW class and it was an experience to say the least. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful with every aspect from start to finish. Casey hands down was the best instructor. He made the class fun and knowledgeable.
I took the CCW class as a first time gun owner. I wasn’t really that interested in concealing but I wanted to learn more about gun safety and laws. I was not disappointed. Casey is very thorough and manages to go over a lot of information in an extremely efficient AND fun matter. Many questions were asked both by me and others and no one was made to feel stupid or less then. They nailed the no wrong question vibe. I’ve taken 3 other ccw classes in 2 other states (CA and AZ) and this one is the best by far.
I have taken a CCW class in three other states prior to this course at 702. This was by far the best, most entertaining course. The instructor’s were knowledgeable, fun and kept the class engaged all 8 hours. Casey was a great instructor and would definitely take a course by him again. The training room is clean and nice. Casey Bridges, instructor, and his team members are knowledgeable enough to make the class fun to attend. I was there for 8 hours, but enjoyed thoroughly. I used my first 45, which I bought some years ago and never tried. They gave me enough time to try…Great place with good people.
Applicants must:
- Meet the eligibility and background requirements outlined by the state of California
- Complete the approved 16-hour online course
- Successfully complete a live-fire qualification at an approved range (like The Range 702)
- Submit their CCW application to the appropriate California county
Important Notes:
- All reservations are non-refundable, but transferable with at least 48 hours notice.
- Participants must be sober and 21 years of age or older (18 if active duty or honorably discharged military).
- Firearms and ammunition must comply with range safety standards (no steel core).
CCW Permit Class – Frequently Asked Questions
Which gun should I use for my concealed handgun license class?
You should feel comfortable and confident with the handgun you choose to bring to your CCW permit session. Generally, permit applicants prefer smaller, lightweight pistols that are easy to conceal and can be worn comfortably in the holster under clothing. Selecting a gun for CCW is a personal choice and depends on your individual preferences.
Can I still take the class if I don’t own my own gun yet?
Yes, you can still take this class if you do not have a gun. You can rent a handgun from us and purchase rounds in our facility. However, because this class assesses your shooting and handling skills, we recommend you bring your gun and holster that you already feel comfortable using if you have them.
How far in advance do I need to book my concealed weapons class?
Our calendar of available classes on this page shows our available classes. You can reserve your spot directly online. Depending on the availability of our certified instructors, you could book your session as soon as the next day, or you may need to consider a later date.
Can I take an online course for a CCW permit?
There is a lot you can learn online about gun laws and firearm safety. However, in order to pass a concealed carry class, you need to show that you know how to handle a firearm and are a proficient shooter. CCW classes are in person, so the instructor can see your technique and accuracy before passing you. There are no approved online CCW classes in the state of Nevada.
What if I don’t pass the concealed carry class?
If the CCW instructor doesn’t feel you are ready to apply for your permit yet, there are several classes you can take to improve your shooting and handling skills. If you do not have experience with handguns or firearm safety, it’s crucial that you work on these fundamentals first before applying for a CCW permit. How often do CCW permit holders need to renew their licenses?
Concealed carry permits are valid for five years from the date they are issued (unless revoked). If you do not renew your permit before it expires, you will need to pay a late fee. Remember to carry your CCW permit and government-issued identification on you if you choose to carry a concealed firearm – and do not carry concealed if your permit is expired.
Which states honor Nevada CCW permits?
